Manners Dinner

Every now and then we have a "manners dinner" with our boys. They learn to set the table the right way. We use the serving dishes and we all eat off the good dishes; even the three year old. We practice good table manners. It is a lot of fun, and makes for an enjoyable dinner.

It usually happens on Sundays, and while we did have one this Sunday, we also had one last night. Today the boys are having an etiquette dinner at school to prepare for Thanksgiving. Thankfully, my boys already know what manners are!

So, for dinner last night we had Luke's Favorite Chicken, Express Mac-n-Cheese, Ciabatta bread, celery sticks, and Totally Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies for dessert. Almost our entire meal came from Anne B!

I didn't have any cream of mushroom soup for the chicken, and I REALLY didn't want to pack up five kids to go to the store to pick up a can. So I made my own. It turned out really yummy. I didn't cube the chicken like the recipe said, because I needed my boys to practice cutting their meat for their etiquette lunch today.

I can't get the Ciabatta bread recipe to work out. It is kicking my butt, so until I get it figured out, I won't be posting the recipe!

I just realized the table isn't set right! We have no spoons and the forks are on the wrong side! Oops! I guess that is what happens when you leave the table setting up to an eight year old! Still, I think he did a great job! :)

One last thing... I have a friend who makes delicious gourmet caramel apples. She is trying to get more hits on her website. Would any of you mind if I hosted a giveaway on this blog?

  3. Go for it! I love the idea of the Manners Dinner. I'm definitely going to do that with my bunch of wild boys... you'd think they were truly raised in the wild based on their table manners.
